April Workshop
The April Workshop has been cancelled. The date
fell right before Easter, making scheduling difficult for some. If you
signed up for this workshop you will be reimbursed by check, either at
the next meeting or by mail.
Thank You From the
YMCA
We recently received this letter of thanks from
Carol Brodeur of the YMCA.
Dear Deborah,
Please extend a thank you to all the members of the Cornerstone Quilters
Guild who participated in giving so generously of their talents and
gifts.
The parents were given notes explaining the gifts were given through the
Guild's generosity and delivered by the Y. Everyone's small acts of
kindness blossoms into a community of needy children being served, so on
behalf of those children and families, please accept this grateful thank
you! Merry Christmas! Carol Brodeur
MANY THANKS TO:
Members
at Large: Alice Hunt and Mary
O’Brien for continuing to represent the membership at our Board
meetings. Before, during and after
every meeting, they gather input from members and present feedback,
suggestions and ideas to the Board.
So feel free to seek out Alice and Mary to ensure that your ideas
are heard.
The
Holiday Committee has outdone itself once again! Many thanks to Shirley Blasius, Terri
Donnelly, Terrie LaBombard, Mary LaBoube, Mary Maguire, Martha Paluses,
Deb, Park, Melissa Powers and Irene Rose for planning a GREAT Holiday
Party. Held at Old Sturbridge
Village, attendees were not only treated to a wonderful brunch, but also
delighted in a presentation of antique quilts complete with stories about
each quilt. A special thanks goes
to Old Sturbridge Village Volunteer Coordinator Kim Adams and Textile
Expert Jean Contino for spending time with us.
OPPORTUNITIES
ABOUND UPDATE!
Many thanks to those of you who have volunteered for some of our
opportunities!
RAFFLE QUILT UPDATE
The
Raffle Committee is alive and well and in the process of putting together
our raffle quilt to be used as fundraiser for our many activities.
We have Laura Salo, Johanne Peterson, Gloria Smith, Sheila Beck and Sandy
Johnson to thank for now only volunteering, but also designing and making
the quilt top. More to come after the New Year begins…...
BUS
TRIP TO THE AQS SHOW IN LANCASTER, PA UPDATE
As Alice
Hunt said at our November meeting, there is good news and bad news and
good news. The first good news is that the American Quilt Society
has taken over the Heritage Quilt Show in Lancaster, PA and there will be
a show on March 24-27, 2010 at the Lancaster Convention Center. The
bad news is that there has NOT been sufficient time for the Bus Trip
Committee to make all the arrangements necessary for a guild-sponsored
trip in 2010. But, there is plenty of time to plan and make
arrangements for a trip in 2011. Cindy Nagle has agreed to chair
this Committee with Alice Hunt and Johanne Peterson. Johanne has
information about a bus trip from Arlington, MA to the show (including a
stop in Charlton) with lots of shopping along the way. Please see
Johanne for more info!

Quilt
Show Update
Our
application to the Tantasqua Regional High School has been
approved. The dates for the show are July 24 and 25, 2010.Our
request for space will include the main entrance lobby. We also
have the date of July 23, 2010 for the show set-up. The
admission fee for the show will be $7.00 per day. Guild
members are asked to pay the admission fee. If you’re interested in
signing up for the show committee please visit the Quilt Show table at
the start or end of each guild meeting.
Also, at
our last show, we gave out fat quarters to every admission. We had
over 400 fat quarters and we ran out! We are asking our members if
they can help us out by donating fat quarters for the same purpose.
You can drop off the fat quarters to Karen Murphy who will have a table
set up at the Guild meeting. Please check your closets and sewing
rooms for any fat quarters you could donate to help promote our Show and
the Guild in general!!
Applications
for quilt entries will be available in the next couple of months.
Look for more details in the coming newsletters and monthly
meetings.
