If you are
submitting a quilt: Drop your quilt off between 2 pm and 6
pm on Friday, July 23rd. To
expedite the drop off, fold your quilt so that the lower back corner is
exposed (an ID will be attached).
Did you remember to label your quilt and put a 4" hanging
sleeve on it? Pick up is between 5
and 6:30 pm on Sunday. Please don't expect to pick your quilt up before then.
The Quilt Show Committee will have their hands full, taking down the quilts
and organizing for pick up.
If you are
volunteering: Please check the receipt you received
when you signed up for your assignment and times. You will also be
receiving a reminder phone call. If in doubt, contact Terri Donnelly at
508-637-1174.
Admission is $7.00
each day. The
Quilt Show Committee struggled with whether to offer free admission for
ourselves, volunteers, quilt show entrants, those who donated to the
Boutique Table, etc. In the end,
we realized that there are so many people who have contributed, that
offering free admission to them all would seriously affect our bottom
line. Our goal is to break even;
with perhaps enough left over to ensure an even better show next time around.
So we hope that you understand the need to charge admission to everyone -
ourselves included - to support the guild as a whole. The good news is that volunteers can attend both days for the price of one!
As a final suggestion, if you are volunteering try
parking in the satellite parking lot located just off Rt. 148 as you
approach Tantasqua from the south. If we have large crowds, we will need
every available parking spot located directly in front of the school.
This is going to be a fantastic show. We have more than 155 quilts on display.
We hope you come, enjoy the show and feel proud you belong to our Guild.
Bring a friend or family member.
GOODBYE FROM YOUR NEWSLETTER EDITOR: Well folks, as many of you may know,
I am stepping down from my duties as Newsletter Editor. It has been
fun reporting on all the goings-on, but my calendar is so full, I don’t feel I can continue doing
justice to the membership as Editor, so this will be may last
issue. I know my replacements, Cindy Senecal and Lora Baldracchi
will do an outstanding job as the new Co-Editors. Please take a
moment when you see them to thank them for taking on this important
job. I will still see all of you at the Guild Meetings. Have
a great summer and to Cindy and Lora best
wishes and much success on your new job!!! Judy Bachand
MORE THANK-YOUS. . .and OPPORTUNITIES TO GET
INVOLVED
Irene Rose has been our historian and photographer
for the past several years. Sitting in the front row, she snaps
pictures of our quilts and guest speakers as a journal for years to
come. So, thank you, Irene, for keeping a record for future
years. Irene is looking for someone to take on this
responsibility. If you have an interest, please see or email either
Irene or Sue Therriault.
Linda Satkowski and Gerry Zecco have been our
Hospitality Committee for the past few years. These two ladies make
new members and guests (and all of us) feel welcome when they walk
through the door. Thank you Linda and Gerry! Linda would like
to invite someone else to take her place on this committee. If you
are interested, please see or email Linda, Gerry or Sue Therriault.
Judy Bachand has been our newsletter editor for the
past three y ears and she has done a phenomenal job of putting together
all the news, events and activities of this very active quilt
Guild. So, thank you, Judy, for all your efforts! And, thank
you in advance to our co-editors of the newsletter — Cindy Senecal and Lora
Baldracchi!
Karen Eckmeier is Coming in November….
Last year, Karen was scheduled for a workshop but
it was cancelled due to snow.
The workshop has been rescheduled for Saturday, Nov 20, 2010.
Many people who signed up for the original workshop
will be taking this workshop and you can too! There are a few spots
left.
A complete supply list will be posted on HERE and will
be available when you sign up. You can bring your own fabric or order
a fabric kit for $20, which must be ordered at least 30 days in advance
(let us know when you sign up).
Don’t miss this great opportunity to work with a
terrific teacher, quilter and book author.
QUILT SHOW FUNDRAISER
Thank
you to those who have donated the wonderful items for the Boutique Table. Donations of pincushions,
needle and scissor cases, baby blocks, gift bags and postcards are some
of the items received to date. Guild members are always anxious to
assist whenever the word is put out. The time between now and the
Show date will pass very quickly. Please take a little time to
think of an item(s) you or your mini-group might donate for the success
of the Boutique Table. Please bring your donations to our monthly
meetings.
Looking
for ideas?? Check HERE .
Don’t
forget to include your name on the donations, so we can return them to
you if we do not sell donated crafts. Thank you!
FUNDRAISER
Roland and Joyce Parent just returned from the Lancaster
Quilt Show with over 10 new quilt charms, including the limited edition
2010 dated Friendship Star charm. Some new pins, pin buddies and
sterling silver bracelets will also be at our table. You
may order your pins or bracelets. The Guild will receive $5.00 of
the price and the remainder of the amount is donated by Roland and Joyce
to Cancer Research in honor of their grandson, a cancer survivor.
Please place your order and support the Guild and Cancer Research.
This is a most worthwhile fundraiser. Roland and Joyce report that
they are unable to attend the April meeting, but look forward to the May
Anniversary Celebration and also a booth at our Guild Show in July.
Interested in
Teaching a Workshop?
Workshops are informal, friendly places to share
your favorite quilting technique. The activities committee is looking for
anyone interested in teaching a workshop for next year. Workshops
are held on the first Saturday of the month. Contact Deb Park or Terri
Donnelly if you are interested.
Special Workshops
Several people asked about inviting Pat Delaney to
teach a workshop. Because the guild workshops are designed to be
self-supporting, inviting an outside (and more expensive) workshop leader
would require that we raise the fee. The estimated fee for such
workshops would be $35. It’s possible that a pattern fee might also be
required. Is this something you would support? Would you be willing to
pay that much for a class? We will be asking you for your input at a
future meeting.
SHOW OFF OUR GUILD
LOGO!
Everyone who ordered bags and sweatshirts received
their new items to show off their Guild pride. A few people
asked if we could order more. If you are interested in ordering
either Sweatshirts or Totes, please contact Judy Bachand. Judy will
see what the cost would be to order more shirts and totes. The
final cost for the tote bags was $16.00 and the sweatshirts were
$30.00. Depending on the how many more we can order, there may be
an extra shipping cost. Questions? Call Judy at 860 963
2028 or email her at judy.bachand1@verizon.net
RICKY TIMS SUPER QUILT SEMINAR—SEPT. 2-4, 2010,
HYANNIS, MA
Ricky Tims, Alex Anderson and Libby Lehman will be
coming to the Resort & Conference Hyannis on Thursday, September 2 to
Saturday, September 4, 2010 for a special series of seminars that will
range in topic from piecing without templates, making art quilts, setting
in corners and curves, heirloom machine quilting secrets, machine
appliqué, piped bindings, using spectacular threads and much more.
No machines are required. There will be 10 different seminars
taught by these three quilt artists on a large screen where you can see
everything.
Over the next several weeks, if you receive your
newsletter by email, you will be receiving three (3) e-blasts that will
provide more information. For our agreeing to sending these emails,
our Guild will be receiving several gifts from Ricky Tims. In
addition, there are discounts for registering more than 2
people. Cate Brodeur and Mary O’Brien will be handling the group
registration. If you are interested, please check our www.rickytims.com/seminars
and see Cate or Mary at the February meeting. The registration
fee will be due on or before our March 21 meeting.
CONDOLENCES
It is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of another of our fellow guild members.
Sandy Johnson has succumbed to her battle with
cancer and Jerry Trainque has passed way. Our condolences to Jerry’s and Sandy’s family and
friends.
RAFFLE QUILT
UPDATE
At our March meeting, the raffle quilt was
displayed and raffle tickets were available for pickup. Entitled “Geese All Around”, the 2010 raffle quilt is king
size, in harmonious colors of green, warm beige and rose. It was
completed by Laura Salo, Johanne Peterson, Gloria Smith, Sheila Beck and
Sandy Johnson and long-arm quilted by Pam Machamer. The raffle
quilt is a major fund-raiser for our Guild. Proceeds from the sale
of these tickets will enable us to continue to bring guest speakers and
special programs beginning September 2010 through June 2011. These
programs benefit all of us and we ask that you support these programs by
selling at least two (2) books of tickets, which are available at the
Membership Table in the church foyer, or through Alice Hunt, 75 Dug Hill
Road, Holland, MA 01521 or by calling Alice at 413-245-9942. Please
return your stubs and money to Alice before November 10th.
The winner will be announced at our November 21, 2010 Guild
meeting.

Our application to the Tantasqua Regional High
School has been approved. The dates for the show are
