“Miniature Quilt”
By Susan Burns
Overview
This is a
“techniques” workshop more than a “project” workshop. We will discuss what a “miniature quilt”
is, what makes a successful design, and ways to construct small blocks and
quilts. We’ll discuss borders and bindings, along with thread and batting
selection, too. Participants are
encouraged to bring in miniature quilts they may have, to add to the
discussion.
The “Miniature
Quilt” category for the American Quilters Society show in Paducah, KY,
stipulates that entries cannot exceed 24” x 24” in size. We’ll keep that in mind as we look at
different kinds of miniature quilts and how to construct them.
